Paul Hunter - Actor / Director
Paul is a founder member and Artistic Director of award-winning theatre company TOLD BY AN IDIOT and has directed their productions of BEAUTY & THE BEAST (Warwick Arts Centre, Lyric Hammersmith), CASANOVA (Lyric Hammersmith), I’M A FOOL TO WANT YOU (BAC), THE FIREWORK MAKER’S DAUGHTER (Sheffield Crucible), A LITTLE FANTASY (Soho Theatre) , SHOOT ME IN THE HEART (The Gate) and I WEEP AT MY PIANO (BAC).
Other recent directing credits include A COMEDY OF ERRORS for the RSC, SIGNOUR CARRAS RIFLES (Young Vic), THE OPIUM EATERS (Brouhaha), THE UNDERPANTS (Hope Street, Liverpool), LIGHT IS NIGHT (Brouhaha), ONE SET TO LOVE (National Theatre, Hungary), ORDAGO (Companie Punto Fjinco, Bilbao) and
JIGGERY POKERY (Tour / BAC).
Paul was Associate Director of Bolton Octagon between 2005 and 2008. Productions there include CLEO, CAMPING, EMMANUELLE & DICK, ACCIDENTAL DEATH OF AN ANARCHIST, THE BEAUTY QUEEN OF LEENANE (Winner - Best Production - Manchester Evening News Awards) and THE VENETIAN TWINS.
Paul is a winner of the Jerwood Young Vic Award for Directing.
Paul is currently directing LOW PAY? WON'T PAY! at Salisbury Playhouse.
